WHY REPAIR?
What does repair really mean?

There are different applications of repair. For instance a broken leg on a chair bought in 1975 should be repaired with that in mind. This is very different from repairing a broken leg on an antique. The following is offered as an explanation of service that may help you find the best resolve for your particular concerns.

REPAIR: This would include minor touch-ups, nicks and chips and surface scratches. It would include re-gluing loose and wobbly chairs, as well as possible repair to sagging chairs, love seats and sofas. This is the least expensive. It is usually charged by the hour along w/ discounts for multiple pieces. It is designed to keep your furniture useful and looking as good as possible.

REFURBISH: This is a little more costly but still less than refinishing. This will work great on that early 1900 furniture that you got from Mom, Grandma, or a great purchase from a yard sale. This process is to sand down the entire piece, wash it with a chemical to neutralize the finish, sand again, add color, sealer and finish. It looks like new at about 1/2 to 1/3 the cost of refinish and will last a long time.

REFINISH: In this type of repair, the entire piece has the original finish stripped away. If you have an Antique, be careful with this process as it could lower the value of the piece. Sometimes stripping also opens the joints and additional work has to be done to make sure the piece is solid. It is great if you want the piece to be completely re-done and last a very long time. Sometimes a piece has too much damage for refurbish and it has to be refinished.

RESTORE: This is the most expensive process. The desire is to restore a piece back to its original design and finish. Most often this is only done with very expensive furniture or expensive, dated and appraised antiques. It is very time consuming and the repair process as well as products used should be documented. This is the most requested area of service.
